DESCRIPTION: APW - Illinois, Bunn Special, Grade 163, extremely rare Type II marking, 23J 60 Hour, 16S, gold-filled OF original Bunn Special Model 206 case, Montgomery "Flying J" style "Illinois 23J Bunn Special 60 Hour 6 Positions" marked white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, rayed pattern nickel damascene, s#5421981. An extremely rare watch, the total production of the Grade 163 Type II is believed to be only approximately 50 made which makes it by far the rarest piece among the Bunn Special 23 jewel 60 Hour series.
CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking sluggishly, overhaul recommended, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces with few small fine to micro-fine scratches, tiny spot of finish loss to barrel bridge adjacent one case screw position; dial with outer chapter hl below seconds-register at 6, very faint outer chapter hls at 7:30 and 9:30, two very faint hls above seconds-register, some mild wispy clouding of glaze visible in reflected light; fair hands with areas of oxide and rust; case shows medium wear, numerous scattered dings and nicks to band and rear, some scratches and scrapes inside rear, wear to brass to areas of bezel, band and rear perimeter; brassy bow pivots freely, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
